Morning Mayhem on the Woodlands Checkpoint

Picture this: you’re starting your day, coffee steaming, and suddenly four cars decide it’s a good idea to turn the viaduct into a makeshift racetrack. That’s exactly what happened at the Woodlands Checkpoint on Sunday, July 1.

What went down

  • Four cars, all intentions abandoned, crashed into each other on the departure viaduct.
  • Three of the vehicles suffered serious damage, their bodies smoking like an off‑track barbecue.
  • One of the cars was actually a Malaysian‑registered vehicle, the rest were Singapore‑registered.

The two brave souls

Two male drivers—one 32, the other 51—managed to keep their wits. They were transported to Khoo Tem Puat Hospital for treatment. What a relief!

Police involvement and safety updates

The police were notified at about 3:28 a.m. and are still digging into what triggered the chaos. Meanwhile, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) posted on its Facebook page that the viaduct was closed and urged drivers to heed its officers before sticking to the road ahead.

Why this matters

It’s the second accident on the Causeway in just two days. The previous one at the end of June killed two people and wounded three more in a multi‑vehicle mishap involving a trailer and motorcycles.

Remember…

Even on sunny mornings, traffic can throw a curveball. Keep your seatbelt tight, your eyes on the road, and—if you’re hoping for a calm day—stay away from the viaduct just until the sun rises again.
