Marvel Studios Gets a Bit Ghastly for Halloween
Marvel Studios just turned up the spooky factor for the season. After their recent slate of Disney+ hits—WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, and What If…?—the studio is on the hunt for a Latino male actor in his 30s to star in a brand‑new Halloween special.
Who Might Show Up?
Rumors (courtesy of The Wrap) suggest the project could be the Hollywood version of the comic book saga Werewolf by Night. Production is slated to kick off in early 2022, so fans can start biding their time.
What is Werewolf by Night?
In the comics, there are actually two Werewolf by Night heroes:
- Jack Russell—a chill kid descended from a lineage of beings called Lycanthropes. Unlike most werewolves, he can transform whenever he wants (no full moon required) and keeps his brain intact in his beastly form. He had a 43‑issue run that wrapped up back in 1977.
- Jake Gomez—a member of the Hopi tribe, whose family is plagued by a cursed lycanthropy. His folks have taken on a painful rivalry with a pharmaceutical company that’s been cashing in on the tribe’s woes.
So which of these two will inspire the new Disney+ show? No confirmation has been made yet, leaving fans with plenty of speculation.
More Halloween Hype on the Horizon
Marvel isn’t stopping at the werewolf idea; the streaming platform is also lining up a Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special. Written and directed by James Gunn, that season it’s sure to spark a hunk of galactic nonsense.
Extra Fun Fact
Keep in mind that fusing comedy and supernatural thrills is a recipe that keeps audiences coming back for the next season. If you’re looking for more spooks, check out Marvel’s What If…?—though it’s a bit slow to start, and you’ll need patience to get into the groove.
That’s all for the chilling teasers from Marvel. Stay tuned as we watch the studio grind its creative gears for a Halloween treat that’s bound to make the holy ginghy we out the Real Chees..
