Singapore: The World’s Sleep‑Squeezing Capital

Everyone’s been banging on about our non‑stop work culture for ages, but the latest buzz is a live‑action report from a UK bedding company that named Singapore the most tired nation on the planet.

Why Singapore is on the “Worn‑Out” radar

  • Workaholics 101 – Before COVID hit, our relentless hustle was already a headline. We’re the “do‑before‑you‑sip” breed.
  • Global rankings – The UK bedding experts pulled the trigger on a world surf‑check: “Singapore, you’re running out of battery.”
  • Government backing – The Health Promotion Board (HPB) is shaking up the norm: no more stepping challenges alone! They’re finally launching a Sleep Challenge to get us to put a pillow on that brain of ours.

What’s the Sleep Challenge about?

Imagine a four‑month marathon where the goal isn’t just to cover the city in steps but to hit the 8‑hour dream quota. It’s a digital game‑style plan with:

  • Personalized trackers that monitor your nightly ebb.
  • Rewards for those who meet or beat the target.
  • Daily tips so your pillow is your best ally.
Bottom line: Take a breather

It’s not about slower life, folks. It’s about balancing that burning brain energy with a good pillow of calm. Every cheerfully tired soul in Singapore deserves a second place: a well‑rested, fresh‑mentored, and downright happy life.

Dream Big, Sleep Well, and Earn Sweet Rewards!

Ever wondered if hitting the snooze button could pay off? Turns out, it can—especially if you’re part of the Sleep Challenge run by the Health Promotion Board (HPB). Grab a cozy blanket, set your alarm, and start adding those bedtime points.

What’s the Deal?

Officially, just 7 hours of sleep a day = 25 Healthpoints. If you hit that sweet spot for six consecutive days, you’ll rack up 150 Healthpoints—enough to trade for a $1 e‑voucher. Plus, you can collect extra points during “bonus weeks.” Think of it as a sleep‑based loyalty program.

Who’s In?

  • All Singaporean citizens and permanent residents with a valid NRIC.
  • Foreigners holding a valid FIN.
  • Participants aged 17 + the moment they register.

Heads up: you must have already participated in the National Steps Challenge and finished all six tiers of the Steps Rewards. And if you’re currently in the LumiHealth programme (Apple Watch users rewarded for staying active) you’ll need to withdraw before joining this sleep‑centric initiative—once you drop out, it’s game over for that program.

How to Keep Track

No more guessing! The Healthy 365 app and the brand‑new Season 6 HPB fitness trackers will monitor your sleep from noon to 11:59 am the next day. All you do is let the device do its thing. The app will automatically feed in the hours, and you’ll see your Healthpoints stack up in real time.

Registration – December to March 2022

Mark your calendar: registrations open from now until March 31, 2022. The challenge itself runs from November 1 to April 1, 2022. So, let’s get this snooze‑session started before the deadline hits.
