Microsoft Rolls Out Office LTSC 2021 for Businesses

If you’re still on the fence about Microsoft’s subscription-based Office 365, the company has just made a great alternative available for enterprises: Office Long Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) 2021. And for the general public, the consumer version of Office 2021 will drop on October 5 — the same day Windows 11 hits the market.

Who Should Grab LTSC?

LTSC is aimed at companies in heavily regulated sectors and environments where the internet isn’t always a reliable option. In other words, if you need a stable, update‑agile office suite that doesn’t rely on the cloud, this is for you.

What’s Missing?

All the fancy cloud collaboration, AI‑powered automation in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and the compliance goodies that Microsoft 365 love to brag about are not part of LTSC. Think of it as a solid, standalone office package that ticks the right boxes for security‑first businesses.

New Features in LTSC 2021
  • Dark Mode Support for a more eye‑friendly experience
  • Updated Excel functions and search capabilities
  • Support for OpenDocument format 1.3 across Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Office LTSC 2021 will stay supported for five years, and Microsoft promises to keep rolling out further perpetual Office versions. A standard macOS variant is already on the market for enterprise teams using Apple hardware.

Office 2021 for Consumers

The perpetual consumer bundle will launch on October 5 — right alongside Windows 11. Microsoft said the price and full feature list will be revealed closer to the release, so stay tuned.

As always, we’ll update this piece with all the juicy details when they’re released.
