Singapore’s COVID‑Census Hits a Record High
The Ministry of Health finally dropped the numbers, and boy, did it set a new record: 1,504 fresh cases on Thursday, Sept 23 – the biggest daily tally since the pandemic kicked off.
Two unvaccinated Singapore women – a 71‑year‑old who lost her footing on the same day she tested positive, and a 93‑year‑old who turned “test positive” into the death file on the same day as her diagnosis on Sept 17 – have added to the death count, bringing the total to 70.

- Community cases: 1,218
- Dormitory residents: 273, with 343 seniors over 60 among them.
- Imported cases: 13
Clustering Chaos
- Maple Bear pre‑school (Orchard Road): 12 cases – transmission went from staff to kiddos and even a household member.
- Bukit Batok Road / Plantation Crescent dorm: 6 new cases added, pushing the total to 23 (the spot technically has no registered dorm, but it’s a huge Build‑To‑Order work site).
- Tampines Dormitory: 7 more cases, now 26 in total.
Youngsters at Risk
- 86 children under 12 got infected in the past week.
- Since Sept 16, more than 529 youngsters have been caught in the cross‑fire.
Patient Status at a Glance
- Current hospitalised: 1,120 patients (up from 1,083).
Serious cases needing oxygen: 163 (up from 145).
ICU numbers: 23 in critical (up from 19). - Seniors in critical condition: 155 patients who are over 60.
