Pixel 6 & Pro: The Countdown Begins
Only a little under two weeks left until Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro hit the market on Oct 19, and the teaser pics are already giving us a sneak peek into what’s coming.
What the Leaks Show
- Second‑Gen Pixel Stand – Evans Blass shares fresh photos that reveal the next‑level wireless charger. Expect a 23W fast‑charge mode, more than double the 10W of the first‑gen charger that debuted on the Pixel 3.
- Built‑in Cooling Fan – Rumor has it the charger comes with a fan to keep the device from turning into a hot potato.
- Performance vs. Quiet Mode – Users can toggle between speedy charging and silent operation, depending on whether they’re in a library or a spicy kitchen.
- Smart‑Home Buttons – The interface shows tiles for media playback and home‑assistant controls, making it feel like you’re interacting with a futuristic remote.
Face Unlock: Is It Back?
We’ve seen a single screenshot of a “Security” settings page hinting at a face‑unlock feature. The original Pixel 4 had it, but it disappeared in the Pixel 5 lineup last year. Fingers crossed the 6 brings it back—because nobody likes popping the thumb‑print open a phone.
Camera Upgrades
There’s a three‑camera mast on the rear of the Pixel 6 Pro. The trio consists of:
- 12‑MP sensor – the standard for everyday moments.
- 48‑MP sensor – for those deep‑zoom shots that ruin no depth of field.
- 50‑MP sensor – because more pixels always makes the world look truer.
We also caught a glimpse of its charger (it won’t be in the box) and its water‑splashing durability—hinting it might snag an IP rating for dust and water resistance.
Missing Piece
The new Tensor processor – the brain behind the phone’s machine‑learning mojo – hasn’t been revealed in the leaks yet. With such a powerful chip, this might be the most game‑changing “hidden” upgrade we haven’t seen.
What’s Next?
With only two weeks to go, Google’s dropping its latest flagship into the market. We’re keen to see how the Tensor chip, the upgraded charger, and potential face‑unlock feature will harmonize in the final product.
Stay tuned!
