Singapore Boosts Booster Access: Walk‑In, Quick & Easy
Starting Monday, November 1, anyone 30 years or older who’s already had two shots of the Pfizer‑BioNTech or Moderna mRNA vaccines can simply walk into one of the country’s Moderna hubs for a booster. No appointment? No problem.
Who Can Ride the Wave?
- Singaporeans
- Permanent residents
- Long‑term visit pass holders aged 30 plus
- All those who got their first two doses at least six months ago
Senior Support
For the seniors (60 +), walk‑in has never been easier—any vaccination site is open for the booster without a slot.
New Sinovac‑CoronaVac Option
From Sunday onward, folks can book or roam to the Sinovac-CoronaVac COVID‑19 jab at the Raffles City Convention Centre. Seniors already get to ‘walk‑in’ too.
Those who haven’t taken any COVID‑19 vaccine yet can sign up on a simple web page (starting Saturday, Oct 30). They’ll receive a text with a custom booking link and can slot in at Raffles City or any of the 11 Public Health Preparedness Clinics.
If you’ve already had a dose via a “Special Access Route” private clinic, you’re good to keep the rest of the three‑dose regimen at that same clinic. Start booking from Monday if you haven’t yet.
How Well Do Boosters Work?
A study by the Ministry of Health (MOH) tested 685,083 fully vaccinated seniors ≥60 over a period from 15 Sept to 22 Oct. They found:
- ~70 % drop in risk of getting COVID‑19 after a booster.
- ~90 % drop in risk of severe disease.
That means, believers in vaccine bliss, two shots already give 40‑60 % protection against infection, while a booster pushes that up to a robust 70 % or more, and severe illness drops by over 90 %.
Who’s Getting In Touch?
So far, 80.2 % of the 60‑plus cohort, 92.7 % of the 50‑to‑59 group, and 75.1 % of those aged 30‑49 have booked a booster slot or already received one.
Work‑Permit Workers’ Boosters
MOH is coordinating with the Ministry of Manpower to roll out boosters for all construction, marine, and processing sector workers—both dormitory and non‑dormitory dwellers.
Feel the confidence, folks—Singapore’s got a booster roll‑out that’s smoother than a coffee shop line on a Sunday morning. Stay protected, stay happy, and keep walking!
