Raybe Oh: From Burned Out to Back Online
Once a charismatic entertainer, Raybe Oh now spends most of her days in a safe, sun‑free cocoon. After an explosive car crash last year left her with about 80 % body burns, she admits her everyday routine has turned into a plain‑vanilla sleep‑over marathon.
What the Fire Cost Her
- Eight‑tenths of her body charred – and five hundred plus surgeries to patch it up.
- She says she can’t even shift her body while lying in bed – “I was wrapped up like a mummy in the hospital,” she recounts.
- Physiotherapy? Pain in every limb, but support from family and friends helped her endure each session.
From Bored to Bold
Despite the setback, Raybe isn’t heading back to the stage just yet; instead, she’s stepping out of her comfort zone by launching an online beauty business with a close friend.
- She laughs: “Before the accident, I was complacent – now I want to prove that a strong personality can turn any dream into reality.”
- She plans to channel the fire‑fighting spirit into everything from digital makeup tutorials to skincare routines that help people who suffer from scar visibility.
- “I’m not looking back at what I lost,” she says, “but forward to what I can achieve next.”
Personal Battle, Public Fight
Raybe’s personal tragedy deepened at the intersection of Tanjong Pagar’s streets. She tried to rescue her fiancé, Jonathan Long, from a runaway vehicle that pummeled a shophouse on Feb 13, 2024—finishing with his loss and four friends’ lives. A coroner’s hearing into the incident is scheduled for June 9.
Through all this, Raybe remains determined: the quiet, indoors life is now her new stage, while the curtain on her future business is just beginning to rise.
