The glittering title of Miss Universe Singapore 2018 has landed on the 23‑year‑old Zahra Khanum, who’s now gearing up to shine on the global stage in Bangkok, Thailand on Dec 17. After a night full of sparkle, she outshone 14 other dazzling finalists at the grand finale hosted in the fancy ballroom of One Farrer Hotel— the official venue sponsor.
What the Crown Comes With

Zahra credits her single‑mom as the real hero behind the scenes. “I didn’t expect to win at all,” she laughed, “but I’m thrilled, I’m buzzing with excitement, I’m proud of everyone, and most importantly—I’m happy to make Mom proud.”
Runner‑Up Roster
- First runner‑up: Rhythm cycling instructor Tiong Jia En (23).
- Second runner‑up: Realtor Jaslyn Tan (26) – secured $5,000 and $3,000 cash respectively.
How It All Was Tossed Together
The 15 finalists were judged across three segments: Swimwear, Evening Gown, and Q&A. Seven judges—including MUS national director Nuraliza Osman and The New Paper editor Eugene Wee—served up their verdicts.
Wee praised the selection as “a tough pick because all the girls personified beauty and empowerment in different ways. But Zahra had that extra sparkle, confidence, and poise that set her apart.”
