Singapore’s Stepping Into the Gaming Spotlight with a Bee‑Infused Operator
It’s always a treat when your hometown gets a shout‑out in something you love, and in the gaming world, our beloved Singapore is finally getting its moment in the sun.
From Local Sim Races to a Call of Duty Map
We’ve seen our place from regional live sim races to the Marina Bay Grand Prix in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. Now, guess what? Rainbow Six Siege is adding a fresh Singaporean twist: the new Attacker Grim, joining the fun in Year 7, Season 3’s Operation Brutal Swarm.
Preview Day: Bees, Bombs, and a Bit of Charm
Ubisoft SEA pulled us into a preview session for the first operator, Grim (aka Charlie Tho Keng Boon). But before any gear, we got an educational tour about bees at a local enterprise called Bee Amazed. We learned the quirky habits of these buzzing critters, which instantly made sense on why the Kawan Launcher was inspired by them.
Meet Charlie “Grim” Tho Keng Boon
- Born and raised in Jurong, Singapore.
- Raised by a survivalist father, spending endless days in the wild honing skills.
- At 18, conscripted into National Service and thrust into the NDU – Singapore’s elite naval special forces.
- His track record caught the eye of Kali (fitting, if you ask me).
How Grim Rocks the Skirmish
Grim joins Nighthaven as the latest recruit, boasting a 3‑speed boost that lets him zip across the battlefield. He carries a trusty Kawan Launcher plus a solid loadout: 552 Commando, SG‑CQB pump‑action shotgun, and the P229 sidearm. Altogether, he’s all about fast, fearless movement and spotting enemies quickly.
Gadget: The Bee‑Brewed Bomb
When Grim fires his gadget, the adhesive projectile detonates, releasing a swarm of robotic bees that blanket the area. All enemies caught in the radius get pinged for a lot of time. Even if they leave the zone, they can stay marked if the swarm keeps swarming. That’s a massive advantage for any team pushing into danger.
Getting Countered – It’s Not All Honey!
Like every operator, Grim has counters:
- Mute can jam the canister’s deployment.
- Bandit’s CED‑1 Shockwire blocks the launch.
- Aruni and Jager also have gadgets that can disable the projectile.
Stadium Map – Going Back to the (B)old Beginnings
In the preview, we also got a sneak peek of the returning Stadium map, now part of the permanent rotation. Fans of long sightlines and gritty close‑quarters action right now, this map is your playground. With Grim’s scouting, it’s a recipe for thrilling strategic moves or a buzzing warning that lets you dip past defenders.
Operation Brutal Swarm – May 6th is Nearly Here!
Get ready to dive into Operation Brutal Swarm and test Grim in action. It’s bound to shift the meta with this new operator, and Rainbow Six Siege is set to keep dropping fresh content.
Thanks for reading through this revamped piece. Dive in, enjoy the bees, and let’s celebrate our Singaporean pride in the gaming arena!
