Singapore’s Formula One Night Show is Back!
After a two‑year break, the Singapore Grand Prix is finally revving up again. COVID‑19 kept the race on hold in 2020 and 2021, but with restrictions easing, the night‑time battle on the Marina Bay Street Circuit will light up the sky from Friday, Sept 30 to Sunday, Oct 2.
Road Closures – Because Taxis Can’t Be Your Side‑car
- Serangoon Road – the main artery that will be silent until the race.
- Marine Parade Road – turn off the lights, turn on the engines.
- Severance Road – a smooth‑tile track for speedsters.
- Fillmore Road – the groove that drives the crowd’s pulse.
- Boat Quay Road – parking lava flow; speed isn’t welcome here.
- Linear Road – a simple straight‑away that’s letting a clear path for the cars.
- New Bounded Road – the front race‑closed zone.
Traffic management plan:
- Opening – Roads will be gradually reopened as the race finishes. By 5:30 am on Tuesday, 4 Oct, all lanes will be back in full swing.
- Peak‑time exceptions – Some roads will open earlier during heavy‑traffic hours to keep commuters from stalling in oblivion.
What It Means for You
Expect a handful of detours if you’re heading to Marina Bay during the weekends. Bring extra coffee, handy umbrellas, and a sense of adventure; the city streets will be transformed into a racing playground. Meanwhile, for the rest of the month, normal traffic will resume, and the city will shuffle back into its usual rhythm.
Get ready for a thrilling night of speed and precision. Down at the track, the roar of engines will echo across the docks—what a sight for the city’s racing lovers!

Make Your Way to the Circuit on Oct. 1 & 2
Calling all speed enthusiasts and casual commuters alike! If you’re planning to head to the circuit on the first two days of October, you can keep cruising through the Marina Centre. Just stick to the single lane that snakes along Raffles Boulevard via Nicoll Highway or Temasek Boulevard. It’s open from 12 a.m. to 1 p.m., so you’ve got plenty of time to get in the parking lot or hit the pit stop.
Heads up, though: bus drivers, and anyone with W, X or Y plates are not permitted to take that lane. You’ll have to detour. No worries—there’s still plenty of other routes.
Want to hail a taxi? Taxis are welcome to use the single lane at all times unless the race is on. Traffic marshals will be on the ground to direct both cars and pedestrians, and parking remains open at Suntec City, Millennia Walk and Marina Square.
MRT & Feeder Bus Hours Extended
- From Sept 30 to Oct 2, the MRT runs a bit later.
- The last train from City Hall departs at 12:30 a.m. on Sept 30 and Oct 1, and at 12:45 a.m. on Oct 2.
- Selected feeder buses are tweaked to match the last train schedule, so you won’t get stuck on the platform.
Get Around Smartly
Both the general public and F1 ticket holders are strongly encouraged to use public transport to reach the Marina Centre and Padang from Sept 28 to Oct 3, 2022. Taxis are also an option if you want to skip the crowd.
