Pierce Brosnan: “I Don’t Care Who’s Next in the 007 Shoes”
When the legendary 007 was on the lookout for a new face, Pierce Brosnan—who’s practically the liaison of the Bond franchise—stared it straight on.
Old‑School Bond, New‑School Perspective
As the guy who kept the spy’s tux and antics alive in GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day, Brosnan has now stepped back from the mic and says he’s not fussed about the next Bond.
He told a TV interviewer, “Who should do it? I don’t care. It’ll be interesting to see who they pick, who the man will be. Whoever he be, I wish him well.”
The Daniel Craig Hove‑and‑Fro
- Daniel Craig came in after Brosnan, bringing a gritty edge for five installments from 2006 to 2021.
- Brosnan noticed that Craig “always gave his heart on screen” but only watched Skyfall and admitted uncertainty about No Time to Die.
- “I saw the last one and I saw Skyfall. I love Skyfall. I’m not too sure about the last one,” he confided to British GQ.
Plotting the Future: Villains, World, and Personal Stakes
Behind the scenes, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are busy setting the table for the next chapter.
“We always sit down with our writers and start by asking, ‘What’s the world afraid of? Who’s the Bond villain?’” they said.
They want a story that hits both the geopolitical and the personal, two big issues that the future 007 will tackle:
- Geopolitical fear – the global threat that keeps the audience on edge.
- Personal conflict – something Bond has never faced before, making the spy’s journey feel fresh.
So while the world wonders who’ll step into the iconic cape, Brosnan is simply glad the franchise keeps spinning and keeps us on our toes.
