Shocking Abuse Alleged Against a Father in Singapore
In a heartbreaking case that has captured the nation’s attention, a 36‑year‑old man is accused of a lifetime of sexual abuse against his own daughter, spanning from when she was a kindergartener to her teens. The trial, which opened this Tuesday in the High Court, will cover 13 serious charges that have been filed stemming from 2012 through 2019.
Key Allegations
- Aggravated statutory rape – One count.
- Aggravated sexual assault by penetration – Ten counts.
- Indecent act with a child – One count.
- Exposing an obscene object to a young person – One count.
How the Abuse Unfolded
According to the prosecutors’ opening statement, the alleged groom-and‑sexualise tactics began while the girl was still in kindergarten:
- He allegedly forced her to perform an indecent act while he sat on a toilet bowl, insisting she keep quiet.
- In 2016–2017, he taught her how to access pornography on his iPad; she grew more curious and started searching for it on her own.
- Between 2018 and 2019, he forced her into painful sexual acts, including oral sex and forced penetration, in the master bedroom, family car, and a building office unit.
- His final assault was said to involve a sex aid on September 11, 2019.
The Victim’s Journey to Truth
Now 15 and estranged from her family, the girl will testify in a private setting, with a screen shielding her from seeing her father in the courtroom. She reports a history of self‑harm, feeling that no one could help her.
- Three friends will speak about how she opened up to them in late August/September 2019.
- She confided in her mother, who then informed school officials.
- Her teacher, principal and school counsellor will discuss how they uncovered the abuse on September 13, 2019 and promptly filed a police report.
- A medical examiner will testify that she tested positive for chlamydia and a vaginal infection, indicating ongoing sexual health risks.
Why This Matters
This case underscores how predatory abuse can start at a young age, evolve, and then be hidden for years. The jury will hear evidence that the accused slowly and methodically twisted a daughter’s life into an unimaginable nightmare.
