Li Kai Wen: From Under‑Dog to Champion

The Origins of a Man Who Taught Himself Strength

Li Kai Wen grew up in Hunan Sports Vocational College, a place meant for talented wrestlers, not grounds for bullying. He was harassed for the first four years of school by classmates who were meant to herd him.

He insists that a moment of self‑assertion turned into a punishing lesson. “I stood up, but they beat me. So I gave in, obeyed, and kept pushing my emotional limits,” he recalls.

Rise to Leadership

The only thing that stopped the bullying was when the seniors graduated. Li ascended to captain and turned his role into a shield for the next generation.

He says he became: “more empathetic and protective than I ever was.” “The hazing was slowed down and I stood against older teammates when they tried to pick on the younger ones.”

The Fighting Spirit

Martial arts taught Li respect, honor, perseverance and determination. He believes these qualities keep a fighter’s confidence high, helping others avoid being victims.

He stresses that martial artists are not those who start fights; they’re confrontation‑avoiders who learn life’s most important lessons.

Upcoming Showdown

Li’s grinning grin isn’t just for bragging; it’s for the upcoming fight on Saturday, 23 June in Macau. He faces Rodian “The Redeemer” Menchavez at ONE: PINNACLE OF POWER.

The hopes of a city’s featherweight division rest on his shoulders, and we know he won’t let the underdogs suffer again. He’ll showcase everything he’s learned—strength, respect, and that indomitable spirit—in every punch and every shove.
