Singapore Chiropractor and Two Agents Face Charges for ,000+ Insurance Fraud Scam

Chiropractor, Insurance Agents Team Up to Swindle Manulife – Court Reacts

What Happened?

On Tuesday, January 22, Charles Loo Boon Ann, the owner of Chiropractic Focus Group, was hauled down to court for allegedly colluding with two insurers to cheat Manulife Singapore out of over $14,000. The scheme involved bogus personal accident claims from 12 policyholders, all of whom were supposedly treated at Loo’s clinics.

The Players

  • Charles Loo (29) – charged with 17 counts of cheating.
  • Priscilla Tien Ling (27) – faces 12 similar charges.
  • Mike Chew Jun Yong (36) – nailed down with 9 cheating charges.

How the Scam Worked

Between June 2017 and April last year, the trio convinced patients with pre‑existing conditions to buy personal accident insurance from Loo’s clinics. Once covered, those same patients made false claims for stress‑free “injuries” that supposedly occurred after policy purchase, pulling payouts from Manulife.

What’s on the Table?

Each patient received between $200 and $1,200. In total:

  • Tien’s victims: 9 policyholders, over $8,000 in payouts.
  • Chew’s victims: 5 policyholders, roughly $7,000.

Current Status

The trio was granted bail of $15,000 each and will return to court on February 19. Depending on the number of counts, offenders can face up to 10 years in prison and hefty fines.

What’s Next?

While the court didn’t yet decide whether to act against the 12 policyholders, police highlighted the duo’s scheme aimed at exploiting insurance policies for chiropractic claims. The trio’s “cheating” spree highlights the importance of vigilant insurance oversight.
