A Flyer That Stuck Around Like a Bad Habit
What Happened to Tan’s Mercedes?
Picture this: Tan, a proud Stomp contributor, was cruising his sleek Mercedes in the Dawson area of Queenstown on a sunny Saturday (May 8). He stopped to chill and – surprise! – there was a flyer glued to the front of his car.
He snapped a quick video of himself scrubbing the foamy culprit off the paint. But the flyer wasn’t budging outright. A scrap of that sticky mess remained on the bonnet, and some greased residue was left behind.
He reached out to the company named on the flyer, only to get a dead end:
- Phone number “for the manager” was a fake.
- No voicemail when he rang again.
- Now he’s judging the warranty from a dash of $500 he spent on re‑polishing and coating.
“I had to spend time and my own money to redo my polishing and coating, which costs $500,” Tan confided to Stomp.
Jo’s Windshield Woes
Twice the story, but twice as quirky. On the same day, Jo discovered a business card stuck to his car’s windshield in Yishun. Attempts to clean it left behind a sticky residue just like Tan’s experience.
After a few fruitless calls to the company, Jo concluded with a sigh of resignation, “Guess I have to bear the charges for the damage,” and ended up in the May 12 report of Stomp.
Bottom Line
Seems like those flyers are on a mission to stick around – and we’re paying the bill! Make sure your car’s clean before letting the marketing magic take over.
