Chrissy Teigen has always been honest about her quirks, but not many folks know about the time she almost handed out an entire bottle of champagne to the wrong celeb. Hers was, in her own words, the “worst” celebrity encounter.
It All Started After the Golden Globes
During The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the flattering model giggled, “God, I think it was after the Golden Globes—oh no, this might be the worst!” The fact is, a mis‑step followed a night of glitz, glimmer, and a frames‑of‑drunken‑modesty.
What Went Wrong?
- She found a celebrity—Michael Keaton—holding a glass of champagne at the entrance.
- Knowing she’d be on camera (and wanting to act like everybody does in movies), she rushed over, grabbed the glass, and said, “Thank you!”
- Only after the handshake did she realize, to her chagrin, that she’d mistakenly accepted Michael’s drink.
Immediately, Chrissy tried to make a quick exit. “God, I’m still so embarrassed by it; I could die… I took it, I drank it, and I left,” she admitted, shame and all.
Dealing with the Drinks Dilemma
While Chrissy’s recent mishap was minor, she’s not new to the red‑neck side of alcohol. In a 2017 interview, she confessed to “making an a* of herself” in front of people who mattered to her.
“I was, point‑blank, just drinking too much. I got used to being in hair and make‑up with a glass of wine. That glass carried over into me having a drink before the awards show. Then a few more. Sensing the humiliation, I felt awful for putting myself in that fashion in front of people I’d respect. It’s not a good look—for me, for John, for anybody.”
She’s since worked hard to keep her make‑up kit lined up with her wine glasses, but her anecdote is a neat reminder that even the brightest celebs can trip over a bottle of champagne.
