Adam Schlesinger Battles COVID in Upstate New York
Fountains of Wayne frontman Adam Schlesinger has been fighting the dreaded COVID‑19 virus for more than a week in a hospital upstate New York. The 52‑year‑old now relies on a ventilator to keep his lungs breathing.
Hospital Blues (No, Not a Coma)
Lawyer Josh Grier told Variety.com that while Adam is “very sick” and heavily sedated, the word “coma” has never been used. He added, “No one has ever said Adam is in a coma.” The chaos in the ER is intense, but the doctors are parading around with words like “early response” and “treatment plans,” while admitting that COVID is still a mystery.
Family Ships Out the Love
- Humor‑heavy Joan‑Bernthal (Walking Dead star) posted a heartfelt note on Twitter: “This is my big cousin Adam. As a little boy I would be mesmerised by his talent. He taught me how cool it was to be an artist. We love you Cuz. Stay strong. Bless you and all of the heroes at the hospital on the front line. Please keep Adam in your heart.”
- Fans flooded comments with “Get well soon” and “Rooting for you!”
