A Malaysian man has been praised for his altruism recently when a video documenting his courageous attempt to rescue a kitten was shared online.
In a Facebook post on Aug 11, Abu Fathiyyaturahma Menk Abdun Mujtahid shared the clip of the heartwarming scene and recounted the incident.
Abu — a paralympic athlete who uses a wheelchair — and his friend were on their way to a sports complex when they saw a kitten stuck in a drain, clinging desperately to its walls. The poor creature was already drenched, Abu wrote in Malay.

Faced with a steep slope leading down to the drain, Abu decided to leave his wheelchair on the pavement and manoeuvre down using his arms.<img alt="" data-caption="Photo: Facebook/Abu Fathiyyaturahma Menk Abdun Mujtahid” data-entity-type=”file” data-entity-uuid=”63f59546-926c-4a02-8ad8-0e4421a21a64″ src=”/sites/default/files/inline-images/150819_catrescue2_fb.jpg”/>His friend, who was filming, has a prosthetic leg and could not climb down, clarified Abu.
The descent wasn’t the only hurdle.
