Oops! A Party Pooper at Boon Keng
Just after 10 am on May 8, a 62‑year‑old man decided to turn a quiet MRT stop into a live drama.
The Dramatic Entrance
- He strolled into the station, visibly tipsy, and started slamming a glass panel over the passenger service counter.
- Police were alerted at 10:14 am. By the time they arrived, the gentleman was shouting incoherently and gesturing with the kind of fury you’d expect from someone who just mistook a train for a bouncer.
- Without a mask on, he was shouting at the staff and then sauntered straight toward the TransCom police squad, waving angrily.
What Went Down
In a quick video clip, you can see the man storming the glass, shouting “What am I supposed to do?” at the staff. Police stepped in to calm the situation, but the guy went full “kick‑out” and tried to throw a punch at an officer.
Legal Roll‑Call
- Under the Liquor Control Act (Section 14(2)), he was booked for causing a public nuisance while intoxicated.
- Under the Penal Code (Section 353), he faced a charge of using criminal force to deter a public servant from doing their job.
Closing Scene
Thankfully, no one was injured. Police are still investigating. The incident has been documented, and the apologizing officers will no doubt see an increase in their coffee orders.
