Tragic collision on Queensway claims life of 15‑year‑old
In an afternoon that turned suddenly into a nightmare, a 15‑year‑old boy was brought down by a car while waiting at a U‑turn on Queensway. Police confirmed the incident on Tuesday evening, Oct 27.
Immediate chaos on the road
- The 54‑year‑old driver, now facing a charge of causing grievous hurt through negligent driving, pulled over just metres from the crash point and dialed emergency services.
- Nearby, a station attendant stopped to check on the situation after he heard a loud impact. “I heard this big thud and saw him right there on the road, bleeding nonstop from his head,” he told Lianhe Wanbao. He prefers to stay unnamed.
- Two women passing by didn’t waste a second and started shouting, trying to rouse the boy, but he remained unresponsive.
Emergency response
Paramedics rushed him to National University Hospital, yet the injuries proved too severe. The boy succumbed to them as the EMTs worked with the clock ticking.
Family background
He was a Malaysian youngster who had been living in Singapore with his parents. He was heading home when the accident happened. “We’re still waiting for the police to unveil the full story,” his mother said when asked by the paper.
Police investigation underway
Authorities are combing through the scene and gathering evidence. The driver will no doubt face further legal scrutiny.
