Singapore Motorists, Grab a Coffee and Chill – ERP Fights Back
Heads up, road warriors! Good news – you’re going to skip the ERPs for a while. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has decided to soft‑eject toll charges from the road network during the December school holidays.
When & Where You’ll Be Untaxed
- Westbound Pan‑Island Expressway (PIE) – From the start of the day up to Eunos Link, Dunearn Road, Kallang Road, Kallang Bahru and Geylang Bahru, no ERPs. The same goes for the Upper Bukit Timah Road.
- Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) – The stretch under three gantries just north of Jurong Town Hall is ticket‑free between 7:00 am and 7:30 am.
- Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) – Westbound – Skip the charge between 7:30 am and 8:00 am.
- Central Expressway (CTE) – Southbound – No tolls on the section before Braddell Road from 7:00 am to 7:30 am.
Welcome to “$1 Surprise” Time
The southbound CTE after Braddell Road and the PIE slip‑road into the CTE are switching to a $1 special for a few hours:
- $1 between 7:00 am‑7:30 am
- $2 between 7:30 am‑8:00 am
- $3 between 8:00 am‑8:30 am
East Coast Parkway & KPE Low‑Priced Seasons
- Two gantries on the East Coast Parkway (ECP) & the slip‑road of KPE – $1 at 8:30 am‑9:00 am, free at 8:00 am‑8:30 am.
- ECP eastbound gantry before KPE – $3 cut to $2 from 6:30 pm‑7:00 pm, then free from 7:00 pm‑7:30 pm.
Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE) “Free-Range” Hours
- Westbound MCE before Maxwell Road exit & slip‑road to Marina Coastal Drive – no charge from 7:30 am‑8:00 am, $1 from 8:00 am‑9:00 am.
- Eastbound MCE before Central Boulevard exit & slip‑road from Marina Boulevard – free at 6:00 pm‑6:30 pm and 7:00 pm‑7:30 pm, $2 from 6:30 pm‑7:00 pm.
Other Special Discounts
- PIE gantries heading to Kallang Bahru – free from 7:30 am‑8:00 am, $0.50 from 8:30 am‑9:00 am.
- Bendemeer Road & Woodsville Tunnel gantries – no charge from 7:30 am‑8:30 am and 9:00 am‑9:30 am, $0.50 from 8:30 am‑9:00 am.
- Thomson Road gantry – free from 7:30 am‑8:00 am and 9:00 am‑9:30 am, $1 from 8:00 am‑9:00 am.
All other gantries stay on their usual rates.
When the Free‑Ride Ends
Remember 1 January is a holler‑out public holiday, so the fairy dust will vanish and the old rates snap back on 2 January. The next ERP review will be scheduled for February.
