Friends Migrates from Netflix to HBO Max in 2020: Entertainment News

AT&T’s WarnerMedia is rolling out a brand‑new streaming platform: HBO Max

In a quick move to shake up the streaming scene, WarnerMedia announced that all of the beloved Friends reruns will be leaving Netflix in 2020 for a brand‑new service – HBO Max – which is set to hit the market next spring.

What’s in the lineup?

  • More than 10,000 hours of content, including fresh original shows
  • Star‑powered films and series featuring Reese Witherspoon and Anna Kendrick
  • The very best from AT&T’s own networks: HBO, TBS, and others
  • A treasure trove of Warner Bros classics from both film and TV

HBO Max aims to give Netflix and Disney’s upcoming Disney+ a run for their money, as the big media houses stir up the digital subscription space.

The big draw: Friends

It was a 1990s powerhouse that still rings loud in 2018, landing the 2nd spot for the most‑watched show on Netflix in the U.S. when measured by minutes streamed. Only Office took the crown.

Netflix did a quick tweet to say it was split with the move: “Sorry to see Friends go. Thanks for the memories, gang.

Original gems coming soon

  • Two flagship movies from Witherspoon’s production house
  • Four productions helmed by Greg Berlanti (yes, that’s the Riverdale mastermind)
  • An anthological romantic comedy series, Love Life, starring Kendrick

So far, no official price has been declared for subscription, but the platform’s launch is eagerly anticipated by curious viewers looking for fresh content beyond the usual offerings.
