What Happened

On Tuesday night (August 7), a 37‑year‑old driver lost control of his white car and veered onto the center of Sheares Avenue. The vehicle slammed into a roadside barricade and then punched through a nearby tree. Unfortunately, the driver didn’t survive.

Passenger’s Fate

The passenger—also 37—was conscious when emergency crews rushed him to Singapore General Hospital. He’s currently under medical care.

Eyewitness Report

  • Observer name: Adrian, a Stomp contributor, was driving by at about 10 p.m.
  • “The car went off the road, hit the barrier on the left, and crashed into a tree,” he said.
  • He noted that the glare made it tough for his car’s camera to record the event, but he could see the vehicle badly smashed, all its doors open.
  • The scene was bustling with three police cars, five traffic police bikes, an ambulance, and paramedics.

Police and Rescue Services

The police received a call at 8:43 p.m. about a collision on Sheares Avenue near Central Boulevard. SCDF teams arrived shortly thereafter. Despite rapid attempts to revive the driver, paramedics declared him deceased on‑site.
