Kaki Bukit Workshop Owner Arrested in Alleged Hammer Attack on Customer

Workshop Drama Turns Into a Legal Slam Dunk

In a shocking turn of events at 1 Kaki Bukit Avenue 6 on September 27, a 60‑year‑old workshop owner went from servicing cars to being escorted off the premises by police.

What Went Down?

  • At 3:49 pm, a frantic call came in: the workshop was the scene of a heated confrontation.
  • The police spokesperson summed it up: “Arrested for voluntarily causing hurt using a dangerous weapon and intimidation.”
  • A video clip (see facebook.com/districtsingapore for the full version) shows the chaos: two men in front of a Toyota, the older man’s bonnet unexpectedly snapping shut, and a hammer being tossed like a baseball bat.

The Video Turns Up

In the clip, the older man in a blue shirt—apparently the garage boss—lets the bonnet fall on the younger man’s hands, setting off a chain reaction of shoving, yelling and a hammer swing that loads the situation into headline territory.

The People Behind the Wheels

  • 42‑year‑old Liu (the younger man): He was a client who had been told his car required serious work.
  • He had previously had a sketchy partnership with the boss, but the deal fell apart over a commission dispute.
Liu’s Side of the Story

“I drove my car into the garage for a routine fix, and then the boss demanded I pay back a whopping $8,000 that had never even been earned,” Liu told Lianhe Wanbao. “He threatened to wreck my car with a hammer if I didn’t comply.”

During the ensuing spat, the boss used his hammer’s wooden end to strike Liu’s head. As a result, Liu visited Sengkang Community Hospital and was hospitalized for a day.

The Boss’s Defense

In a statement to the newspaper, the workshop owner insists he had no intention to hurt. He claimed that after being shoved by Liu “over ten times,” he needed medical attention and would next appear in court on Thursday, October 11.
