It has been an eventful few days, to say the least, when it comes to the Electronics Entertainment Expo 2020 (E3 2020), with the Electronics Software Association (ESA) finally admitting defeat against the potential troubles of a Covid-19/coronavirus outbreak.
While the event may have been canned, the march towards the next generation of consoles and gaming as a whole must continue. In light of that, both Microsoft and Ubisoft have revealed plans for digital events.
Microsoft was originally planning for a live press conference at the Microsoft Theater next door to E3, with both the Xbox Series X and more games getting the limelight.
E3 has always been an important moment for Team Xbox. Given this decision, this year we'll celebrate the next generation of gaming with the @Xbox community and all who love to play via an Xbox digital event. Details on timing and more in the coming weeks https://t.co/xckMKBPf9h

Ubisoft also has a slate of exciting new titles to talk about and reveal, including Watch Dogs Legion, the next Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry, and more during its usual E3 showing.

Another surprise unearthed by Kotaku’s Jason Schreier points towards Warner Bros. planning to hold a press conference at E3 2020 for the first time. The next Batman game from WB Montreal, a new Harry Potter game, and Rocksteady’s next project were set to be on the agenda.
Now those plans will have to be changed to accommodate the cancellation of E3. We can expect the same from the likes of Nintendo and perhaps Bethesda.

PlayStation has already pulled out of the show earlier this year, and we can expect the house of PS5 to hold their own presentation or event in the leadup to holiday 2020.
