When Dining in Singapore Feels Like a VIP Lottery
Picture this: you’re told to pay over $5 for a humble plate of hawker‑style food, and a bunch of locals raise their eyebrows. Fast forward to another camp where a handful of food lovers will happily sign up for a two‑year wait‑list to snag a bowl of prawn noodle soup that costs a staggering $18‑plus or a plate of ngoh hiang for over $12. Catch the drama – PasirPanjangBoy is the name that’s stirring up this culinary buzz.
Meet the Chef‑Stylist Duo
- Tinoq Russell Goh – a makeup artist who swapped brushes for ladles in 2018.
- Dylan Chan – partner in crime and kitchen wizard.
They own a tiny but mighty pop‑up in the hip Tiong Bahru neighbourhood, and they’ll go mad over the fact that they’ve got two‑year‑long wait lists that keep growing even as they’re closing shop for months—just to launch an overseas frenzy with a Hong Kong Peranakan joint called Bibi & Baba.
Why the “Temporary” Closure?
“We had to shut down for a couple of months to work on that overseas adventure,” Dylan tells us on a local blog. “But the pandemic hit fleet‑wave style and we couldn’t keep the agreement alive. So we’re looking to re‑open in Singapore once borders open.”
Back in Singapore: A Raffles Tea‑Time Pop‑Up
From March 12 to April 11, PasirPanjangBoy will be serving up their famous menu at Raffles Court, a classy place that’s all about elegance, but with a twist of flavor. They’re trying to give people a taste of the world‑renowned food in a more accessible way – and truly, they’re sorry they can’t dole out every seat!
However, keep in mind that the duo will only be on site on certain days. The order of dishes will be handled by the hotel’s chefs using the pre‑prepared ingredients from Dylan and Tinoq. So you’ll get a taste of the authentic recipes without the full culinary show.
What’s on the Menu? (and Who Can Choose?)
- Signature Prawn Noodle Soup – $18++
- Ngoh Hiang – $12++
- Beef Rendang – $14++
Feeling indecisive? Grab the PasirPanjangBoy Bundle on Wednesdays for $38++ – a smart deal that would originally cost $44++. (This is one of the only days the famed Prawn Noodle Soup is on the windowsill, from 5 pm to 8 pm.)
Dates & Location
