Riders Cafe’s Final Farewell: 15 Years of Flavor Meet New Construction
For fifteen years, Riders Cafe has been a cozy pop‑up tucked inside a colonial-era building surrounded by green lungs. With its breezy atmosphere, the place has served fan‑favourites such as the Riders Burger, a juicy bone‑in pork chop, cilantro‑flavoured fried chicken, and the extra‑crisp corn cake that’ve earned it a loyal following.
Closing the Chapter
The café announced its closing on social media on Monday. Co‑owner Jan Yeo shared that she’ll be posting stories that capture the highs, lows, and heart‑pounding moments of having run a restaurant for a decade and a half.
Because the Bukit Timah Saddle Club must vacate the premises by mid‑2023 and relocate to Woodlands, Riders Cafe’s lease, which had been renewed from an original three‑year term, has finally come to an end. While the closure is disheartening, Yeo emphasised it’s beyond their control.
She also highlighted that the café was born from the idea of shining a light on hidden gems of Bukit Timah, reminding everyone that places like Riders do exist in Singapore.
What’s Next for the Team
- Red Eye Smokehouse – the seven‑year‑old American‑style barbecue joint
- Its sibling, Rex Cocktail Bar, opened in August on Jalan Besar
With the café’s doors shutting, the operators remain focused on keeping the smoky vibes alive at these other spots.
Operating Hours (until closing)
Located at 51 Fairways Drive, Riders Cafe served lunch, dinner, and brunch from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. (Tuesday to Sunday) – with a quiet Monday pause.
