Seungri’s Singapore Taxi Tune Twist
Picture this: a neon‑lit Singapore street, a sleek taxi rolling through the city, and the unmistakable opening bars of BigBang’s “Bang Bang Bang” blasting from the driver’s headphones. Little did the motorist know he was riding with one of the band’s own.
Unexpected Pop Star Encounter
Seungri, the charismatic 27‑year‑old singer‑actor, shared the story with a grin in an interview for The Straits Times. He chuckled when the driver, clearly clueless about who he was, sang the hit and then asked, “How do you know this song?”
The driver replied with a shrug: “I don’t know, but it’s by some K‑pop artist and I love it.” Seungri, ever quick on his feet, followed up with “How many members are in the group?”, only to receive a half‑hearted “Maybe two or three.” The answer could have made the driver miss the point, but Seungri decided to let the moment go.
Bang Bang for a Bang Bang Fan
- Seungri had no intention of revealing his identity to the driver.
- He smiled and kept the bar gently rolling as the taxi zoomed past Orchard Road.
- The ride turned into an impromptu karaoke session of a song that, secretly, belonged to him.
More Than a Musician – A City Fanatic
Seungri’s trip to Singapore was part of a broader promotional tour. He was there on Saturday, December 8, to launch Braun Buffel’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection at Marina Bay Sands, and to attend a handful of press events in the Lion City.
He’s no stranger to Singapore, often visiting a few times a year.
“I’ve got plenty of friends here, so I love dropping by. I’m usually on Orchard Road because a bunch of my pals run stores there. I like showing up and saying hello,” he told the reporter.
Locals have been incredibly welcoming: “Are you BigBang’s Seungri?” they’ll ask. “Yeah, just here for a vacation.” Then, in a friendly twist, they’ll say, “When are you and BigBang next stopping in?”
Off the Stage, In the Battlefield
The other BigBang members—T.O.P, G‑Dragon, Daesung, and Taeyang—are currently fulfilling their mandatory military service duties. Seungri may follow suit sometime in 2019, but not before planning a solo world tour.
His debut solo album, “The Great Seungri”, dropped in July. Following that, he smashed two sold‑out concerts in Seoul a month later.
“I’ll tour Southeast Asia, then head to the US. I just want to say greetings to all my fans worldwide. That’s the plan through March, and yes—I’ll stop in Singapore,” he said, enthusiasm shining through.
All‑Around Superstar
Aside from music, Seungri’s side hustle kingdom is vast: acting in Netflix’s mockumentary YG Future Strategy Office, appearing on variety shows, owning a ramen franchise in Seoul, and running several bars and nightclubs.
He describes himself as never being “lazy,” instead always full of high energy. “That’s why I think people love me,” he mused.
When asked about his album name sounding a bit grandiose, Seungri explained that “The Great Seungri” translates in Korean to “glorious victory.” It reflects his growth—musically and personally.
