Singapore Reports 322 New COVID-19 Cases, Including 11 Community and 5 Imported Sufferings

Singapore COVID‑19 Update – 13 July

Yesterday, Singapore added 322 new coronavirus cases, pushing the national tally to 46,283. The bulk of the new cases were community‑linked, but there were also a handful of imported infections and a wave of dormitory cases.

Community Cases

  • 11 new community infections – 2 Singaporeans or permanent residents, and 9 work‑pass holders.
  • A 67‑year‑old hospitality staff from Shatec was the sole community case on Sunday noon, detected after a new, expanded testing round.

Imported Cases

  • 5 imported cases were placed under a stay‑home notice (SHN).
  • One permanent resident returned from India on 6 July and was tested while on the 14‑day SHN.

Dormitory Cluster

Migrant workers living in dormitories accounted for the majority of the remaining cases, with 176 new infections coming from that group. One dormitory cluster previously identified at Mandai Lodge I (460 Mandai Road) and four others – 10 Kaki Bukit Road 1 #03‑32, 3 Sungei Kadut Street 6, and 9 Defu South Street 1 – have now been cleared after aggressive testing. Those sites now only house recovered patients or people who tested negative.

Places Visited by Infectious Patients

  • Rivervale Mall (11 Rivervale Crescent)
  • Jurong Point’s Lenskart outlet (1 Jurong West Central 2)

Anyone who visited these locations while the patients were still contagious should monitor their health for the next two weeks but no need to avoid the sites – they were cleaned if necessary.

Other Key Numbers

  • Average community cases per day rose to 16 this week from 10 the week before.
  • Unlinked community cases averaged 8 daily, up from 5 previously.
  • More than 259 patients discharged – total recoveries now at 42,271.
  • Current hospitalised patients: 182, one critical in ICU.
  • Isolated at community facilities: 3,468.
  • Deaths: 26 from COVID‑19 complications and 14 deaths where patients tested positive but died of other causes.

Global Context

Since the outbreak began in December last year, more than 13 million people worldwide have been infected and over 571,000 have died.
