Singapore’s COVID‑19 Death Toll Climbs to 239 as Elderly Pass Away

An elderly flock of six people—between 78 and 93 years old—lost their lives to complications from COVID‑19 in the past week. Four of them were men, two were women, and the Ministry of Health (MOH) announced the numbers on Monday, 18 Oct.

Vaccination Status

  • Four of the victims had never been vaccinated.
  • The remaining two? One had a full jab, while the other only got a partial dose.

All of them carried pre‑existing medical conditions, though the MOH didn’t reveal any further specifics.

What the Numbers Look Like

Across the last 28 days, 25.5 % of the deaths were fully vaccinated, the rest were either unvaccinated or only partially vaccinated. This figure puts a spotlight on how age and health status still play a big role—even with vaccines on board.

Hospital and Care Facility Numbers

  • 3,209 patients are at community care facilities.
  • 858 are in dedicated COVID‑19 treatment facilities.
  • 1,714 patients are in general hospitals (up from 1,651 the week before).
  • 337 patients require oxygen support.
  • 67 are in ICU.

Vaccination Status

  • 84 % of the population is fully vaccinated.
  • 85 % has received at least one dose.
  • 588,596 people have had their booster shots.
  • Another 83,000 have booked vaccination appointments.
