Singapore’s Covid‑19 Numbers Drop, but the Numbers Still Keep Rising
The Ministry of Health today reported that the total number of Covid‑19 cases hit 16,883 on Wednesday, a decline of 2,537 from the previous day’s tally.
On the Daily Breakdown
- From 19,420 on Tuesday – the highest since the start of the pandemic – cases fell to 16,883 on Wednesday.
- Hospitalized patients ticked down slightly from 1,355 to 1,352.
- ICU admissions: 35, with 153 patients needing oxygen support (up from 140 yesterday).
- Deaths for the day: 13.
Testing Results
- Out of the 16,689 local cases, 12,714 were detected through antigen rapid tests (ART) – meaning those folks had mild or no symptoms.
- Another 3,975 cases surfaced via PCR tests.
- Imported cases: 194 – 141 from PCR, 53 from ART.
Weekly Growth Rate
The current weekly Covid‑19 infection growth rate sits at 1.29, a slight dip from 1.34 the day before. A rate above 1 means the weekly case numbers are on the rise.
Overall Statistics
Singapore now records a grand total of 514,880 Covid‑19 cases and 926 deaths.
Vaccination coverage is strong: 94% of eligible residents are fully vaccinated, and 64% of the population has received a booster shot.
