A Shower of Love for Little Calynn
Mark Lee and his wife Catherine Ng are celebrating their lucky number: eight. Their youngest, Calynn, turned 8 on Thursday, August 19, after a grueling battle with a rare kidney disease called glomerulonephritis.
What “glorious” eight means to the family
When Catherine wrote on Instagram, she sprinkled a bit of Chinese romance into her message:
- “Calynn is eight, and she’s a real princess.”
- “Nine years ago, when the big brother was just over a year old, the shock of Mom’s future—like a surprise—sent us into a thrill.”
- “It wasn’t just the joy; we’re all under the pressure. Mom’s guilt over not being perfect enough started to make the kid feel icky.”
- “Seeing her go through that tough schedule, Mom is crushed but absolutely relieved as she sees her girl turning into a healthy baby.”
At the end, Catherine added a heartfelt PLATE‑of‑LOVE cake: “Happy birthday, baby. Nothing matters if you’re healthy and grow happy. We love you more than any cake.”
Celebrity support turns the teacup into a party
Friends from the showbiz community—actor Jeremy Chan, actress Xiang Yun, and singer Hong Junyang—pumped out birthday wishes underneath Catherine’s post. The whole batch turned into a beautiful, small-oob‑party with many fobs.
Mark’s Acknowledgment of the Journey
He told The Straits Times in May that Calynn is “so far so good.” The drama and the epilepsy will stay in the pool of her life, but Mark wants to do her regular check‑ups, and he is planning for medication for tomorrow if she perceived too as well. He expects Calynn’s friendly duration to finish in teenage years.
