Zachary Levi Criticizes Fandral’s Portrayal in Thor Movies, Entertainment News

Zachary Levi’s Thor Misfire

At 40, the Shazam! hero once gave us a quick cameo in the Thor saga as the flamboyant Fandral of the Warriors Three. But when he returned for the sequel, his enthusiasm hit a snag—his bustling TV schedule clashed with the blockbuster’s timeline, so the first chapter fizzled.

The Second Shot, Third‑Wheel

  • He pushed back for a more flavorful role because the original film left the Warriors Three mostly in the background.
  • When Josh Dallas dropped out, Thor rehired Levi — a mixed blessing, as the part was still barely fleshed out.
  • In Thor: Love and Thunder, it turned out his character signed off very early, leaving the audience with a half‑finished story.

Speaking Straight at DragonCon 2021

Levi spilled the truth: “Honestly, when I saw the first movie, the Warriors Three didn’t get the screen time we hoped for. I asked, ‘Will you give us a fair shot?’ And they said, ‘We’ll use you a lot in the sequel.’ I signed on, thinking I’d have a solid cameo—only to get a handful of lines, and then… we just killed it off during the third film.”

He admitted he expected a more heroic arc before the final cut: “I knew I’d die in the third installment, but I thought there’d be more to deliver before that.” And the truth? The scripts kept trimming the cameo sooner than he imagined.

From Marvel to DC: A Tale of Two Universes

Despite the brief stint, Levi remains grateful for helping bring the MCU’s quirky side to life. “Dying in the Marvel Universe and then resurrecting in the DC Universe is wild. I can’t even try to explain how awesome that feels.”

So, while the Thor saga wasn’t exactly the blockbuster spotlight Levi sought, the handshake with Marvel still left him pleased, especially knowing he’s already making waves in the DC world.
