Jesseca Liu Goes Full Trigger‑Happy on Set
When a Malaysian Star Turns Seated
Imagine thinking that pulling the trigger is as simple as flipping a switch on a TV show, until you actually do it. That’s precisely what 42‑year‑old actress Jesseca Liu discovered while prepping for her role in the upcoming drama The Takedown.
Game‑changing Prep
- Jesseca stars as Yan Qiaoyi, the fearless leader of a Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) squad.
- For authenticity, the CNB organised a full‑blown gun training session for the entire cast.
- This marks her first real-for-hire stint as a law‑enforcement officer.
Blood‑Pumping Realism
“At first, I shrugged and thought firing a gun was just a scene, but after putting my finger on the trigger, I realised how seriously these officers treat their weapons,” Jesseca shared. “You respect them more once you get the serious side of it.”
Even though the rifles were unloaded, the crew had to keep a habit of pointing downwards to avoid a misfire. She explained how we learned to clear the chamber properly and lecture on finger placement, and then went into “dozens of shots” in various poses and at different distances.
Unfiltered Joe’s Shock
“The instructor even told me to drop my earmuffs so I could hear the real sound of the gunshot. The recoil was massive—tremendous knockback. That moment, I understood the sheer might of a firearm. It was terrifying!”
Rain, Gunpowder, and a Memorable Moment
It was drizzling outside, yet the fresh scent of gunpowder filled the air. Jesseca recalled how, even with the rain, that scent remained in her memories: “It was a memorable experience, one I’ll never forget.”
When It Hits the Airwaves
“The Takedown” will fly in on Channel 8 on Nov 2 at 8:30 pm, and is also available for free on meWATCH starting the same day. It’s a stellar line‑up, starring Hong Ling and Desmond Tan alongside Jesseca.
Keep an eye out for the dramatic reloads and heroic stakes—your eyes are about to get a thrilling treat.
