Brad Pitt Discovers a New Canvas: From Hollywood to Sculpting

Breaking the molds, the award‑winning actor turned artist showcased a collection of nine striking sculptures at the Sara Hilden Art Museum in Tampere, Finland this past weekend. The event, part of a larger exhibit by British artist Thomas Houseago, also featured a ceramic series from the musical legend Nick Cave.

What’s in the Box?

  • House‑shaped silicone pieces, each “arming” themself with random ammunition.
  • Plaster panels—one a dramatic gunfight scene—representing the “battlefield” of personal choices.
  • Three short panel sketches of the artist’s own life, called My Radical Inventory.

When asked about the themes, Pitt shared a surprisingly introspective view: “It’s all about self‑reflection, acknowledging where I’ve messed up in relationships, where I misstepped, and where I’ve been complicit in hurting others.” He added that these works are a result of a brutal honesty exercise—a sort of honest audit of a life he’s been living as a star.

Nick Cave’s The Devil: A Live

Not to be outshone, the Australian singer’s piece carries the title The Devil: A Live and comprises 17 pieces that chart “Satan’s life in 17 stations— from innocence through experience to confronting mortality.” Each glazed ceramic figurine ranges from 6 to 19.5 inches, handcrafted, painted, and glazed by Cave between 2020 and 2022.

Collaborative Spirit

Both talents worked closely with Houseago, who is known for fusing paintings with fresh sculptures in redwood and plaster. “I’m not an I. I’m a we!” the artist quipped, signifying the collective energy behind this exhibition.

For the weekend, Tampere’s art scene had a full‑filled calendar—starring Hollywood icons and musical legends, all rubbing shoulders with crafted artistry. If you’re up for a bit of creative adventure, the Sara Hilden Art Museum might just be your next stop.
