Harry Potter’s Siren Call: Is He the New X‑Man?
Rumours spun by the press that the Harry‑Potter star could step into the legendary shoes of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine have kept the buzz alive—but he’s calling it all a press tour rumour.
GQ Candid Confession
In a relaxed GQ interview, Daniel Radcliffe let the jokes loose:
“It’s purely a press tour rumour; I say something, and occasionally I get bored of answering that way so I say something different, and that sets it off again. I should just never open my mouth.”
His dry wit suggests that the speculation was more a microphone‑taped prank than a genuine industry slam.
Why He’s Staying Comfortable With Small‑Scale Projects
Daniel’s love for the “flexibility” that comes from smaller roles is crystal clear. He’s wary of jumping into another big franchise after the “big‑screen token” of Harry Potter. He says:
“I just don’t ever want to get locked into something that I am not sure I will be able to love the same amount the whole time.”
In other words, he’d rather be the lead in a cozy indie flick than the next blockbuster sensation.
Wolverine: The Box About The Fox
Earlier this year, Daniel also filled the airwaves with his thoughts on stepping into Wolverine’s trench‑coat. He denied being cast and is LIVING AROUND THAT idea like it’s a ghost story:
“So many times, people come to me like, ‘Hey man, heard the Wolverine news, that’s pretty cool.’ No, I don’t know anything about it.
Like, I appreciate that somebody is clearly going like ‘Wolverine’s actually short in the comic books, you should get a short guy to do it!’
But I don’t see myself, I don’t see them going from Hugh Jackman to me. But who knows? Prove me wrong, Marvel.”
The No‑Remake Stance
The actor is an unmistakable non‑remaker:
“Most of the films that I love I don’t think I would want to see remade. And I certainly don’t think that I would want to be in the remakes of them.”
So if they’re looking for new X‑Men faces, probably the next best bet is to add drama, humor, and a sprinkle of “okay, I’ve got my own plan” territory to the mix.
