Music, The Warm Blanket in the Coldest Times
Kuo Po, a seasoned music industry veteran, believes that in the darkest days, a song can be the softest hug. She rallied 39 bright-eyed performers—aged from 5 to 15—at the Academie of Stars (AOS) to create a heartfelt anthem called “If Not For You”, a salute to the front‑liners and healthcare heroes battling COVID‑19.
The Lightning‑Fast Production
- Three days to write the melody and the lyrics.
- An army of 79 young students filmed the video in separate groups.
- Every participant carried a spark of cheer, no matter how many years they were from the desk.
Why It Matters
“Staying positive in this climate feels almost impossible,” Kuo Po says. “But as a school, we found it essential to fight the negativity with something we love—music.” She added that the music video is a small gesture of thanks and solidarity for those risking everything on the front lines.
Academie of Stars – Where Talent Blossoms
AOS accepts kids from age three onwards and offers comprehensive programmes in music, singing, acting, dance, and communication. Every lesson leads to internationally recognised certifications.
The Heartfelt Closing
“This project touches us deeply. The unity we see from students, parents, and staff feels like a living, breathing thank‑you note,” Kuo Po reflects. “It’s a testament that even in tough times, music keeps us connected and hopeful.”
One of the performers in the music video Zachary Lim, six, added: “Everyone everywhere is talking about Covid-19 that will make us very sick. I am scared as we can’t see it. But when teacher Kuo Po asked us to be in this music video, I was so excited. I hope the song can cheer on the many brave aunties and uncles fighting this virus.”
