Coldplay: Sounding the Final Bell for Albums, but the Tour Train Still Rolling
As the band drops its ninth studio effort, Music of the Spheres, frontman Chris Martin has thrown a curveball — the group will only churn out three more records before laying down the curtain on studio work for good.
Martin’s words hit hard: “I think that in a few albums’ time we will finish making albums. This isn’t a joke, this is true; after the twelfth, that will be the end of our catalogue.”
But retirement doesn’t mean peace for the band that’s kept the world dancing on their beats for two decades. The 44‑year‑old singer wants Coldplay — consisting of Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion — to keep hitting the stage into their seventies.
He’s hopeful: “We’ll always want to play live together, and in the spirit of the Rolling Stones, it would be epic to tour into our late seventies. If anyone wants to join, that would be awesome!”
The BTS Collaboration — A Legendary Mix of Depths
- Chris admits the partnership with K‑pop superstar BTS was a blast.
- “It’s a real joy to team up with them from start to finish,” he told Absolute Radio’s Andy Bush.
- “It was such a weird idea, and it seemed wrong on paper, but it brought out the inner boyband in us and the inner old‑man band in them, creating a middle‑aged collaboration.”
Coldplay’s meteoric rise began with the self‑titled Parachutes in July 2000. Since then, the band has kept the globe humming, and the next chapter of their story is already in the works.
